Bitti- Wheat Rolls

BITTI / WHEAT ROLLS

Ghee jaggery and hot Bitti’s……. That’s the breakfast and kids lunch-box today!!

Bittis are Wheat flour rolls ,flavored with salt and carom seeds. Bitti- wheat rolls, is a traditional Maharashtrian snack , specially made for toddlers , when they begin to eat on their own.  It’s easy to pick and eat, has a sweet flavor from jaggery , is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

I learnt about this recipe when my kids started eating on their own, from my MIL ,of course. And soon realized that it could be an easy lunch box recipe too! We , being Maharashtrians, have genetically developed the taste for jaggery and ghee ( we can have it with literally ever meal),  and it tastes great with the Bittis!

Bittis are loved by elders too.  Toddlers at home, are just an excuse to make it though.  It is easy and quick to make, doesn’t require a lot of ingredients too.  So just get going….and enjoy the yummy Gud- Ghee- Bittis!

  1. Tried this for the first time and my 4.5 year old princess absolutely loved it….I earned a lot of ‘god god papas’ from her with the demand to cook the same thing for her tiffin. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe…the quantities mentioned, instructions and photos are perfect. Thank you once again!!!
