Thecha in Marathi refers to a coarsely crushed mixture of chilies and garlic using a pestle and mortar. And as they say ,the chutney made using a pestle and mortar or the silbatta tastes far better than the one we get from the modern gadgets.
It is typically enjoyed with Bhakri ( a flat bread made with jowar or makki flour) and raw onions. You can use red or green chilies for this preparation, as per your taste and of course, availability. It can also be stored for a couple of days , and used for making Dal Fry or other Indian veg curries.
To subdue the heat from the chili , this Thecha should be served topped with a little oil ( groundnut oil suits best ) or with a sprinkle of lemon juice.
As far as Thecha is concerned , less is more ! So just prepare a small amount, and serve even a smaller amount at first.
