Green Gram Sprouts Chaat

This lightly steamed green gram sprouts preparation is inspired by the Indian Chaat. It’s a green gram salsa perfectly flavored with lemon , chili and the quintessential Chaat Masala.

Evening tea time is the peak time, when I have all these crazy cravings . If its raining , I want somethin hot and fried, if its hot , i want some thing cool n sweet. The weather is just a reason to binge on some or the other snack. But a lot of times , the healthy eater within me takes charge, and then it dishes out some lip-smacking healthy snacks!

Yesterday I made this healthy and filling – Green gram sprouts chaat! The perfect sprouts with their slight sweet flavor , mixed with veggies and the Indian spices and finally dressed with lime juice , was just what I needed. When you snack on such a healthy bowl of sprouts, there comes a big-feel-good factor along with it. No need to stress about how much you ate ;-).

You need to prepare a little in advance for this recipe, but assembling it can be done in just a few minutes.

To prepare the green gram sprouts, you should soak the green gram overnight ( or for 8 hours ). The next morning drain all the excess water with a colander. Let the green gram dry out a little, and then tie it in a damp muslin cloth and keep it in a covered container for another 8 hours. Remove the green gram from the muslin and you will have nicely sprouted green gram to make this chaat.

It forms a great evening snack and even a great condiment for any regular Indian meal! Sharing the recipe here.
