Mixed sprouts salad recipe

My daughter has suddenly developed a lot of interest in environmental science, specially because of the experiments her teacher makes them do ! Just last week they learnt about germination . And guess what was the assignment given to her ?

Take a few seeds , keep them in moist cotton in a paper cup, water them regularly, keep them in a warm place and see what happens. She followed the instructions given to her , came running to me and said, “ I got the answer to the assignment! ,  its…..SPROUTS !

Sprouts was a much easier concept for her I guess, as compared to germination . From that day on , for the entire week we were just sprouting everything that we could get our hands on in the kitchen. And as a result we all ended up having a lot of sprout salads!

Salads are the in-thing these days.  We all are getting more and more conscious about diet , calories and weight! And salads are our saviours… be it indian , Russian, Greek or whatever……if it’s a salad we’ll try it anyway.

Today in my series of Salads , I will be sharing the recipe for the Sprouts Salad! Easy healthy and yummy! The only thing being ,  it needs a little pre-planning. There is soaking and sprouting involved, so its not an instant salad in that sense.

Sprouts have a distinct fresh flavor , and are loaded with nutrients. The main ingredient of this salad is moong dal / whole green gram , mixed with some Channa / black Bengal gram and peanuts. Have you tasted soaked peanuts? they have an awesome sweet taste!

The mix makes the salad super healthy ! This preparation can be enjoyed as a side dish in a meal , a condiment , a great evening snack bowl or a great protein rich breakfast!
