Rice Flour Laddo

This is something I noticed this Diwali during Laxmi puja. All the sweets ( Prasad ) made specially for goddess Laxmi are white in colour. Got to know from the elders that goddess Laxmi likes white sweets and red flowers , and so we had to prepare a white sweet that day.

The first white coloured sweet is kheel batasha, which is the main Prasad distributed during Diwali . There’s no cooking involved in this. Just take kheel and batasha, mix them and keep it in a bowl.

We had to make another white sweet, something quick and easy , as we had been on an eating spree since the previous week.

We finally decided on these rice flour laddos. They turned out to be great and again an instant hit with the kids.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 4 tbsps ghee butter / clarified
  • 1 cup sugar powdered
  • 1 tsp cardamom green powder
  • Handful dry fruits of chopped of your choice

Ingredients
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 4 tbsps ghee butter / clarified
  • 1 cup sugar powdered
  • 1 tsp cardamom green powder
  • Handful dry fruits of chopped of your choice
Instructions
  1. Take rice flour and ghee in a heavy bottom pan. On a medium flame , roast the mixture stirring continuously. Roast till the mixture becomes light , and ghee starts to separate from the mixture.
  2. Lower the flame . Add powdered sugar and cardamom powder to the mixture. Mix properly and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
  3. Mix in the dry fruits and keep aside to cool. Mould the mixture into small balls . The laddos are ready to serve.

TIPS

Roast the rice flour only till it becomes light , it should not change colour .
